About the museum

For the first ever cohort of the University of Leicester in 1921, there was no precedent. They were pioneers. It was the dedication of these nine students (mostly women), alongside the founding staff, that helped to shape the respected establishment we know today. Coming up to the centenary, we invite you to listen to their fascinating stories, as told by them, through original voice recordings in our multisensory exhibition; The Class of ’21.

Visit us at the School of Museum Studies Building and immerse yourself in their accounts of how they came to the university and early life on campus. Listen to original sound recordings and find unique physical objects from university life past and present.

You can also hear how current students and staff are continuing their legacy, which are available to listen to online and in the izi.TRAVEL app.

Class of '21 is part of the ListenUp! Leicester exhibition.
