Audio tour Summary
One of the longest amongst the trails criss-crossing the Cortona countryside, this path runs from Sodo to Pierle, where the stunning namesake fortress once stood as one of the key Cortonese strongholds along the border with Umbria; from the village of Sodo, the path climbs the hillside to the Croce di Sant’Egidio to eventually reach Pierle, winding its way along the mountain-ridge through Portole, Monte Ginezzo and Monte Maestrino. The trail meanders through oak and chestnut woods and by the Cerventosa dyke, meeting an old roman cobblestone road and offering hikers a variety of natural and historical sights.
